Characteristics
Digitalia MUNI ARTS is a research infrastructure whose main purpose is to support digital research in the humanities and arts at the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University (FF MU). The aim is to make available and preserve research data and research results of academics working at the FF MU in the long term, to enrich their metadata and thus enable other ways of data processing, to support research by making available tools and preparing a virtual research environment enabling the development and strengthening of scientific collaboration and further exploitation of research data. Digitalia MUNI ARTS is responsible for the transfer and long-term storage of research data and digital objects of selected research or grant projects together with their virtual research environment enabling further data analysis. It strives for the long-term preservation of data according to current standards of good practice.
The role of the Digitalia MUNI ARTS research infrastructure implemented on the platform of the Islandora repository system is defined in the Strategic Plan of the MU Faculty of Arts MU formulated with a view to 2028. In it, the FF MU commits to support and maintain the Digitalia MUNI Arts research infrastructure in the long term so that it can provide services related to long-term archiving of research data. The role and activities of the repository are set out in the FF MU Strategic Plan as follows:
- developing faculty research centres, databases and infrastructures and ensuring transparent access to them
- managing and developing digital library infrastructure
- transfer of existing digital collections, building emerging collections in the infrastructure environment, regular user testing and reflection of results in infrastructure development, transfer of metadata to the national DARIAH node
- setting up institutional processes for the creation of digital collections and establishing transparent, intuitive and instrumental guidelines for academics
- supporting the enhancement of competences in the field of digital humanities at the Faculty of Arts MU
Project & partners
Digitalia MUNI ARTS was created within the LINDAT/CLARIAH-CZ project - Digital Research Infrastructure for Language Technologies, Arts and Humanities, which is the Czech branch of the pan-European infrastructure DARIAH-EU. Digitalia MUNI ARTS operated by Faculty of Arts MU is a partner node of the LINDAT/CLARIAH-CZ project, with which it coordinates its activities and shares metadata for wide accessibility and reuse of the stored research data.
